As from the 1st of October we must now be fully comply with the Construction design and managements regulation 2015 for commercial and domestic works.
Construction Design Management Part 6
Health & Safety often get a bad press. This is because Managers do not give it enough attention to it early on in the project. How often have we heard that the job has been stopped because the workers are not trained or do not have the correct certification. This not the workers fault, it’s a management fault. Then when the project is running late, its just get it done and we will sort the paper work out latter. Mixed messages?
Its every likely that the workers find H&S so difficult to get their heads around. The key is to get the H&S right before we start work. If we look at H&S in the early stages of the project, then when we start work will not need to stop for H&S none compliance. If the workers failed to comply with H&S they would be red carded or disciplined. Do we apply the same rules to the managers who have failed to get the H&S right?
Surely the point is get it right first time and the job will be completed on scheduled and fully compliant with H&S legislation.
