When using a H&S consultant
Make sure you have discussed how much it will cost and what you will get for your money. Get a quote for the consultant for project, or hourly rate and cost of any extras. Like mileage, materials, overnight fees and meals.
Ask the consultant how they decide what course of action they will undertake to meet your needs.
Agree an action plan with your consultant that make sense to you and you can follow.
You must carry out some form of bench marking, to establish level current level of compliance. Then from this they should be able to clearly demonstrate how much your company has improved.
Hold regular meetings to check on progress and to discuss any issues.
